As this project is building upon the original DMCB many Chinese pages, especially those not related to esoteric Buddhism, will be unedited as I am currently working through each page. DMEAB - Database of Modern East Asian Buddhism - 近代东亚佛教检索

A new Buddhist studies database seeking to share the history and connections of modern East Asian Buddhism (1850-1950) for scholars and the public alike.

Where to start.

Origins

This project is meant to be an independent continuation and expansion of the Database of Modern Chinese Buddhism (DMCB) by Erik J. Hammerstrom, Gregory Adam Scott, Marcus Bingenheimer, and Simon Wiles based on data from my dissertation.

You can find their wonderful database here.

As this project is building upon the original DMCB many Chinese pages, especially those not related to esoteric Buddhism, will be unedited as I am currently working through each page. The original pages made be modified for typos or errors, updated, have new information and sources added, or simply left as they are.
